Going on this trip was a big step for me. Because I was purposefully stepping out of my comfort zone by myself. I did this because I wanted to see how I would do and with what I learned, be able to apply it in my future. During our first workshop, I mentioned a weakness with working with others because I have trouble sharing a task and accepting other’s feedback. While working at the reforestation project when we had to build the garden, I tried to keep my weakness in mind. When working along side Jasmine, we were able to work together and agree on a plan. When we hit a complication. Jasmine had an idea to fix it. Instead of ignoring it and trying to do it alone, I listened and it worked out great. This was a big accomplishment for me. I will try and be aware of this weakness and what I learned in the future.
Another experience that will stay with me is my experience at Iguana Chocolate. It was really cool to see how a real organic farm is taken care of and how a family can live partially detached from big supermarkets and things like that. This experience showed me to think about where my food is coming from and re-evaluate the necessities I need in life. Costa Rica has been amazing so far and it has not disappointed. The people are great, the outdoors are amazing, and I love the Pura Vida lifestyle.
